Personal highlights for Niykee include being hand-picked to join Snoop at the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013 and composing songs despite all the turmoil over the last few years. The young producer is now drawn to her, and constantly checks out the new beats. A lot of them inspire song ideas. After five seconds, I know the quality of a song or not. After that, I have an idea for an original song, and start writing it right away. If I am sitting at my front porch, playing guitar, the lyrics just come out and can be done in less than 30 minutes. Niykee keeps working on her skills as a poet and lyricist. She notes how the pain she experienced in the past is a constant sources of inspiration. "Even even if I'm not writing about my personal life it is the loss of my sister and my painful childhood is incorporated into my music," she says. This influences my music and helps to create this greater significance behind everything that is among the most significant things to me--I need to know that I'll be able to listen to any one of my songs 20 years down the road and be proud of what I wrote.
